The oldest living resident in Minoh, Ōsaka as of 1 October 2026 is 109-year-old Asako Ajiguchi (味口アサ子), who was visited that day. She was born in January 1917. This means that the woman born in October 1914, who was last confirmed alive on 31 August 2026, has entered limbo in the meantime.

The demographics for 30 September show the 111-year-old woman as still alive. I'm so confused!!!

Although the place of death is not specified, I believe this woman resided in Iwakura City.

😉

Rest in peace, Mrs Ō.

@Marco
Well, this age is given according to the traditional East Asian age reckoning system; I believe the actual age was 109. (You need to be careful, as the obituary section in this newspaper uses a mix of "actual age" and "traditional Japanese age" to indicate the ages of the deceased.)
As before, based on documents released by Okinawa Prefecture over the past three years, it is reasonable to conclude that she was born in November 1916.
Hoping to find some kind of clue, I took a quick look through all the publicly available town newsletters (around 13 years...), but I didn't come up with anything. Of course, it’s possible that I’ve overlooked something, but...

Thanks, Straycat. In that case we'll have to wait until September 2026 to discover if she died at the age of 109 or 110. So far this year, three women have died aged 110 (or older, but that's no one) in Okinawa prefecture (Mrs Sakugawa and Mrs Yagu in March, and Mrs Toyosato in April). Let's see what the eventual number will become.

Paca Riudavets Jordi, the daughter of Joan Riudavets Moll, has turned 102: https://www.menorca.info/menorca/local/2026/10/11/2727105/paca-riudavets-hija-del-fue-abuelo-del-mundo-cumple-102-anos.html

She is the second daughter of Joan to reach this age, as his daughter Joana (1920 - 2023) also did so.
