She attended primary school in Velika Dolina and helped her parents in the vineyard and fields.

In 1939, she married Jože Mohorčič, and they had a daughter, Marija. During World War II, she lost both her father and her husband, who died in Knin, Croatia, in 1944. She later married her second husband, Franc, who was her first husband’s brother. In 1949, their son Slavko was born, and they remained together until his death in 1991.

She stayed remarkably active throughout her life. Until the age of 95, she rode her bicycle to run all her errands. She died at 109 years and 136 days old. Marija managed to surpass that age, but she is the youngest person to die as the oldest living person in Slovenia since her.
She is the second person from Mura to be considered the oldest in Slovenia, coincidentally the first since Matilda Serec.
Her successor as the oldest person in Slovenia is Amalija Mohorčič from Lower Sava, born on the 23rd. Apr 1918
