Senovio Saavedra Muela – the oldest known (documented) living person in Ecuador – turned 110 years. He was born in Majua, Esmeraldas, Ecuador on 30 October 1912, and married Carmen Vásquez. The couple had eight children: Ramona, Margen, Guadalupe, Isabel, José, Seni, Eduardo and Enrique Saavedra. After the death of his wife around 1991, he moved to San Mateo.
He became the oldest known living man in Ecuador, following the death of 110-year-old Julio Cesar Mora on 22 October 2020.
As of November 2020, he had 52 grandchildren (including Carmen Vite Saavedra), 89 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
At the age of 108, he has a visual impairment and still able to walk with the help of a walker. He is taken care of by his daughters Isabel and Guadalupe Saavedra.
He became the oldest known living person in Ecuador, following the death of 113-year-old Dolores Velez Bravo on 12 October 2021.
Saavedra Muela currently lives in San Mateo, Esmeraldas, Esmeraldas Province, Ecuador, at the age of 110 years.
