Genoveffa Marinucci, a resident of San Martino in Pensilis, Molise, Italy, is celebrating her 110th birthday today, according to Il giornale del Molise.
Genoveffa Marinucci was born in Miglianico, Abruzzo, Italy, on 26 December 1915.
She married her husband, Tommaso, shortly before World War II, and they had a daughter, Angela. As a young woman, Genoveffa worked in the fields alongside her husband. In January 1943, during the war, she and her husband refused to leave their home in Tollo. According to their daughter, while Genoveffa was arguing with a German soldier, he threw a bomb into their house, forcing the couple to flee. They stayed in Chieti for a long time and returned to their home only after several years, by which time everything had to be rebuilt. The first years back were very difficult, and the harvests were poor.
Following the passing of 110-year-old Maria Arcangela Cirucci, she became the oldest living person in the Molise region.
