Ilo Louck, New Mexico’s Oldest Resident, Turns 111
Ilo Mae Louck, the oldest living person in New Mexico, USA, is celebrating her 111th birthday today in Silver City.
Louck was born in Collins, Ohio, on 5 November 1914, to parents Alfred Frank Bly (1885-1933) and Hattie May West (1885-1967), the fourth of ten children born to the couple. From a young age, she contributed to chores on the family farm, often reflecting on how life was hard work but simple.
Her father served in the National Guard, and four of her brothers fought in World War II—two in the Army and two in the Navy. Her husband, Robert G. Louck, served in the Pacific during World War II and later became her sponsor when she joined the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). Her husband’s career required the family to move frequently, leading her to live in several states, including Wyoming, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Florida, among others.
Happy Birthday!
