Ryoji Shinoda (篠田錂治), 111, Celebrates His Birthday in Osaka, Japan

Ryōji Shinoda (篠田錂治), one of the oldest living men in Japan, celebrated his 111th birthday on 30 November at a nursing home in Osaka Prefecture.

He spent the day in his room with his family. A birthday bouquet from LongeviQuest and a shortcake were placed beside him during their visit.

Shinoda lived independently until the age of 110 years and 10 months, supported by nearby relatives and a housekeeper. He continued to decide on the contents of his meals, carefully selecting balanced, traditional Japanese dishes. In September 2025, he suffered a fall at home and was hospitalized. After his discharge, he moved into a nursing home, where he has been receiving care ever since.

On his 111th birthday, Yumi Yamamoto, President of LongeviQuest Japan, had the opportunity to speak with Shinoda during a phone call arranged by one of his relatives. Shinoda answered in a clear, strong voice, and when Yamamoto told him, “I hope you will continue to stay well,” he replied in a firm voice, “Thank you.”

Based on currently available information, Shinoda is believed to be the 11th-oldest living man in the world and the 4th-oldest living man in Japan.
