Mrs Jewell Estella Hutson, née Bruner, passed away in Kerens, Texas, USA, on 10 April 2022, aged 111. She was born in Elm Flat, Texas, USA, on 27 January 1911.

Jewell Estella Bruner Hutson passed away on April 10, 2022 at 111 years of age.
Jewell was born January 27, 1911 to Charles Edward Bruner and Estella M Inmon Bruner. She grew up in Kerens, Texas where she graduated from Kerens High School in 1929. She then attended and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton with a Teachers degree. After which Jewell began a 48 year teaching career. Schools where she taught were in: Powell, Hill County, Malakoff, Winnie, Beaumont, and Kerens.
On May 30, 1936, Jewell entered into marriage to John Denton Hutson, Sr in Austin, Texas. In 1945, they welcomed their son, John Denton Hutson, Jr into their family. As a family, they spent many summers traveling and seeing the USA. They visited 48 of the 50 states.
Other activities Jewell enjoyed were China and Porcelain painting, knitting, crochet, quilting and especially teaching and working with others. She was always ready to help any where her help was needed. If you ever needed any thing or wanted anything, Jewell was the person to ask. She made special beaded Christmas stockings for JD jrs family starting in 1972 and finishing the last one in 2014 when she was 104. Jewell studied the Bible her whole life through to the last few weeks.

Jewell is survived by her daughter-in-law: Lola Hutson: her granddaughters: Lori Hutson, and Jennifer Marrero with husband, Keith Marrero: Great Grandsons, Denton Marrero and Oliver Marrero
A special Thank you To Marla Mitchell, and Sharon Lejeune for the extra special care and love they gave Jewell the last several years. Also to Eric and Kim Gassmans, Home Instead Caregivers for their love and care the last 3 years. Also, the Genesis HospiceCare of Athens for their special end of life care.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at Kerens Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Kerens First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Leslie Byrd and Rev. Gene Ratcliff.
