Mr. Georges Thomas, who was probably the genuine doyen of France, passed away in Rochefort, Charente-Maritime, France, on 1 June 2024 at the age of 112 years and 195 days.
He was born in Payré, Vienne, France, on 19 November 1911.
While anonymous with an unknown date of birth, the existence of Mr. Thomas was suspected by the French team due to two Facebook posts from 2019 and 2022 saying respectively that a 108 and a 110-year old man was living in Rochefort. All the requests attempted in order to know more about him remained unsuccessful, meaning that he probably wanted an absolute privacy.
Mr. Thomas is the oldest french man ever, surpassing the previous record made by Jules Théobald with 112 years and 171 days.
My condolences to his family.
RIP Mr. Thomas. Very sad to know him only after his death...

If his age is confirmed, he would be the 152nd oldest person in European history, RIP
Interesting. There is a lot of missing data when it comes to supercentenarians. Rest in peace.
This case is a reminder to all fans that ranking numbers and titles in the world of supercentenarians are never rock-solid.
It's great we got to learn about this man, even if we can only applaud him posthumously.
Rest in peace, Georges Thomas.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Thomas
Crazy that a possible WOLM candidate and national male recordholder has gone unknown until his death
Even though he may hold the title now (if Shi Ping was born in 1912), when Tinniswood was visited by GWR and LQ he was not actually the world's oldest man
Rest in eternal peace, Mr. Georges Thomas (1911-2024).
R.I.P. Georges Thomas
If he is a true case, than that means that both Hans Schornack and Andre Ludwig were never the OLM in Europe.
May he RIP. 🙁 Congratulations to him for becoming the oldest validated French man ever!
