Hisako Shiroishi (白石久子) - of Higashichichibu, Saitama, Japan - sadly passed away yesterday, on 26 August 2024, at the age of 114 years, 99 days. She was born on 19 May 1910, in Ogawa, Saitama.
She was the third-oldest living person in Japan and the seventh-oldest validated person on Earth.
May she rest in peace.🖤

It's good that she stayed mentally well until shortly before her death.

She was the 7th oldest person in the world, consequently the oldest person born in the 1910s. With this death Frenchwoman Marie Rose Tessier born on 21 May 1910 in la Loire, and living in Chateau-d'Olonne, Vendee, Pays de la Loire is the oldest person born in 191x (1910). With this death Naomi Whitehead becomes the 10th oldest person in the world, born in Georgia (USA) on September 26, 1910 and lives in Greenville, Pennsylvania
The new oldest person in Saitama is Kane Toriba born on 5 Dec 1911 in Fukaya where she still lives, she is the 15th oldest living person in Japan, Hisako is the 42nd oldest person in the history of Japan, and the oldest person in Saitama's story, She was the oldest person in Saitama since fl 18 Sept 2020, spending 3 years, 343 days+n in that position, which is the longest time since Tane Komine who stayed between 12 Nov 1999 and 6 Apr 2005 (5 years , 145 days), she is the oldest person in the region since Tane Shimada, who died on 16 Oct 2016
at 113 years, 21 days, and is the first person from Higashichichibu to be considered the oldest in Saitama. She is the 164th oldest person in history (validated)
