Ms. Irlande Richard, the oldest living person in Mauritius, sadly passed away on 6 August 2024, aged 110 years and 53 days. She was born on 14 June 1914.
After her death, Marie Olivette Labonne (b. 7 January 1916) became the oldest living person in Mauritius.

She was the oldest person in the country since 25 Feb 2022 (2 years, 163 days), the longest time ever recorded for this country since reliable data is available (we don't know if Marie Emilie Louise was from 2008 to 2014, if so that would be the record, but there is no exact time), the previous record was 2 years and 113 days by Kewal Parsad Bisnauthsing who was in office from 15 Dec 2017-6 Apr 2020, is the oldest to die in office since Mathilde Rousseau on 6 July 2020 at 110 years, 265 days
She is the 6th oldest person in the country's history
