If she were alive she would be the 32nd oldest person in the world, the 10th oldest person in Japan, and the 833rd oldest person in history, along with:
Mary Bittlebrun 1864 1976 USA
Haru Murai 1908 2020 JPN

189th oldest person in Japanese history, 6th oldest person in Saitama history

It's a shame that a person we thought was top 10 in Japan died without anyone knowing, but as our friend @few said, it's better for the news to get out than to be left in limbo and have doubts about when the person died.

LQ has confirmed that Ms. Kane Toriba (鳥羽カネ) of Fukaya City, Saitama Prefecture (JPN) sadly passed away due to pneumonia on 22 April 2024, aged 112 years and 140 days.

She was born on 4 December 1911.

In September 2018 she was reported as the oldest living person in Fukaya, Saitama Pr. (JPN).
