Piedad Loriente, OLP in Spain, has passed away today, 23 November, at 113 years and 73 days. She was born on 11 September 1911. Rest in peace.
Now the OLP in Spain is Angelina Torres Vallbona, who is "only" 111 years.
The spanish cohorts of 1907, 1910, 1911 and 1912 have all gone in the last 4 months. This is a huge collapse. 2024 has been really terrible for Spain.
Sad news.
RIP Mrs. Piedad Loriente Pérez.

RIP Piedad Loriente Perez
At least she made it quite far for someone who wasn't doing very well. Spain's WOP has dropped by 6 years within 100 days, with three titleholders dying plus another person who would now have the title
FYI I will probably stop following longevity (and being on this forum) soon because it has caused me some stress
@mrcatlord Yes, she has made it very far. She even survived her only daughter, who died this September at 82 and was living in the same room with Piedad.
She reached 28th position on the list of oldest living people in the world, currently being the 5th oldest person born in 1911 to die, she was the 9th oldest person in Europe alive, the 92nd oldest person in the history of Europe and the 12th oldest in the history of Spain, and the oldest in the history of Aragon, the oldest person in Spain is now the 38th oldest in the history of the country, the 456th oldest person in history. She surpassed her predecessor's time as OLP in Spain staying 73 days (Silveria Martin Dias stayed 23 days in the position), she is the youngest to die in this position since Francisca Garcia-Torres who died on 25 February 2014 at 112 years, 165 days, she was the 2nd person from Aragon to hold this title, the other had been Andresa Guerrero-Ortiz, who held it between 25 February 2010 and 5 August 2010.
Died at the same age as
