The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to report news that Mrs. Rita Smyke, the oldest living person in Trinidad and Tobago, sadly died in Marabella, Trinidad and Tobago on 21 June 2024 at the age of 110 years, 175 days.
Rita Smyke was born in Princes Town, Trinidad and Tobago on 29 December 1913.

She is the 5th oldest person in the country's history, her successor, Dharmie Deo, is the 6th oldest person in the country's history, born on 27 Apr 1914 in Penal, where she still lives. 104th oldest in the history of the Caribbean. the oldest person in Trinidad and Tobago since 23/Jan/2023
