Mrs. Tane Matsubara (松原タネ) of Tomakomai City, Hokkaido, Japan sadly passed away today, January 16, 2024 at the age of 114 years old.

She was born in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan on 15 October 1909.

She was the oldest known living resident of the prefecture, the 3rd-oldest validated living person in Japan after Ms. Itooka and Ms. Hayashi (4th oldest living person in Japan if Ms. Uema is still alive), the 10th-oldest validated living person in the world.

She was also the tenth oldest verified living person in the world.

Rest in peace, Mrs. Matsubara! The usual January general collapse in the supercentenarian population sadly continues.

Oh no! Rest in peace Tane Matsubara.

Yesterday I visited the 110 club forum and saw the name Tane Matsubara and Masa Matsumoto together and I had a bad feeling.

I checked and luckily nothing had happened yesterday, and just today I see that Tane Matsubara died.

Kane Tanaka (1903-2022) my favorite supercentenarian of all time.
