From what I can see Ms Itooka may be 19th, unless the GRG validated case of Julia Maria Francisca Simao (116-272) is included.

im not aware of any other group validating her at this stage - so perhaps Ms Itooka’s position is open to debate.

She is the 6th oldest person in the history of Japan, her successor Okagi Hayashi occupies the 13th position. She remained Japan's oldest person for 1 year, 17 days, the shortest time since Chiyo Miyako who lived between 21 Apr 2018 and 22 July 2018 (92 days) and the youngest to die in that position since an anonymous Tokyo resident who died at 115 years, 196 days on 27 Sept 2015, and was the first person living in Hyogo to die as the country's oldest person.

Rest in peace Tomiko Itooka

She looked more tired in her later photos, but her death feels unexpected, I really thought she would live to be at least 117 years old.

Even she didn't make it to 2025, for 3 days.

Once again it is demonstrated that 117 years is also an extreme age.

116 years and 220 days is an incredible age.

Just like with Kane Tanaka, her death wasn't reported until today, 6 days after her death.
