The oldest living man in Japan, Tomisaburō Wakui, passed away on July 5th, at the age of 110 years, 220 days. His passing was confirmed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).

He was born in Japan on 28 November 1913.

The MHLW announced him as the new oldest living man in Japan, succeeding Gisaburō Sonobe, who passed away on March 31.

Tomisaburo Wakui spent 96 days as the oldest man in Japan, the shortest time since Shigeru Nakamura who spent 67 days between 9 Sept 2022 and 15 Nov 2022, he died at 110 years, 220 days, the youngest as the oldest man in Japan since Motoi Fukunishi who died at 110 years, 150 days on 22 Aug 2020, he was the 4th man from Kanagawa to be considered the oldest in the country, the first since Sadayoshi Tanabe, who died on 18 Jan 2000. He was the 49th oldest living person in Japan, his successor, Kiyotaka Mizuno, is the 55th oldest person there, Wakui is the 51st oldest man in Japanese history, his successor is in 56th. Wakui is the 14th oldest person in Kanagawa history (validated), he He is the 250th oldest man in history, and the 413rd oldest validated person known to exist in Japan.
