Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka pr. (JPN) announced, on 25 February 2025, that the city's oldest living resident, a 111-year-old woman, had passed away.

In accordance with the wishes of her family, the name and date of death will not be made public.

Rest in peace.

With the woman's death, the new oldest living person in the city is Ms. Masae Furuhashi (古橋マサエ) of Chuō Ward, who is 111-years-old. She was born on 24 January 1914.

The oldest man is Mr. Shinma Shōkichi (新間正吉), 107-years-old, lives in same ward.

Wait, then Masae Furuhashi must have moved since the Respect for the Aged Day update because on the Respect for the Aged Day thread she was listed as living in Mishima.
