She was born on 8 June 1908 in São Francisco de Assis, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She sadly passed away on 30 April 2025 at the age of 116 years, 326 days.

She was the WOLP.

With her passing, the title of the world’s oldest person now passes to Ethel Caterham, a resident of Surrey, England, who is currently 115 years and 252 days old.

RIP Inah Canabarro Lucas. With her death, 1908 becomes history, the WOP title holder becomes Ethel Caterham, and we just lost a legendary supercentenarian.

Only if LongeviQuest would upgrade the final age of Ella Miller, otherwise it would be the first time since Eva Morris in 1999.

Very sad news to wake up to. I was hoping for her to become the first known Brazilian to turn 117. It sadly didn't happen.

And who would bet against JC's reign reaching 50 years.

Or surpassing Delin Filkin's record which (subject to any further validations), appears to be just over 54 years.

Rest in peace, Inah. She was a legend, along with other supercentenarians like Edie Ceccarelli, Maria Branyas, Juan Vicente Perez Mora, Lucile Randon, and others. She was one of the last remaining when I started following supercentenarians about two or three years ago.

I'm a bit late with this, but I want to pay tribute to the wonderful person Inah Canabarro Lucas was.
