French Woman Lucie Cancellieri Dies at 110

Lucie Cancellieri, a resident of Lucciana, Corsica, France, passed away on 21 January, at the age of 110 years, 20 days, according to Corse Matin.

Lucie Cancellieri was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, France, on 1 January 1916. She was born into the family of a cabinetmaker who died at an early age. In 1930, she enrolled in a teacher training college, marking the beginning of a career in education that would span more than four decades. After her first appointment in Corte, she was posted to the village of Castifao. It was there that she met Dominique Cancellieri, a fellow teacher and a native of Lucciana. The couple married in Ajaccio in 1942 and went on to have four children.

She retired from teaching in 1975.
