Bad period for italian SCs.

Ms. Maria Luisa Tortech (FRA/ITA, 111) sadly passed away on 18 February 2026.

She was the 3rd OLP in Italy. 

She was born in Saint-Girons, Ariège dep., Occitania (FRA) on 9 May 1914. 

She has been the 3rd OLP in Italy for 1 day.

She was the OLP in Liguria Region.

Marie Louise Tortech, Italy’s Second-Oldest Woman, Dies at 111

Marie Louise Tortech, the second-oldest living woman in Italy, passed away in Genoa, Liguria, on 18 February, at the age of 111 years, 285 days. Her passing was first reported by Supercentenari d’Italia.

Tortech was born in the commune of Saint-Girons in the Ariège department, Occitania, France, on 9 May 1914. At some point, she moved to Italy.

Following the passing of 111-year-old Ebe Tosi on 5 February 2025, she became the oldest living person in Liguria.

At the time of her passing, she was also the third-oldest living resident of Italy, after Lucia Laura Sangenito (115) and Vitantonio Lovallo (111).

She was the oldest person in Liguria for 1 year and 13 days, the longest time since Ines Sommovigo (January 10, 2021 - March 16, 2024) (3 years and 66 days).
She lived 111 years and 285 days, the longest time since Ines Sommovigo, who died at 112 years and 131 days.
She was the 3rd person from Genoa to be considered the oldest in the region, the second consecutive year.
She died at the same age as Elsie Steele (January 6, 1899 - October 18, 2010, UK).
