How do you think World War I affected supercentenarians born between 1914 and 1919?

Hi, I know it's been a long time since I've posted here.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post in.

But, because of World War I, is it possible that the birth rate declined and that there are fewer supercentenarians than usual between 1914 and 1919?

The generation of 1914 turns 112 this year.

The generation of 1915 turns 111 this year.

The generation of 1916 turns 110 this year.

Extreme Longevity in Catalonia and Mediterranean France

After the very pleasant validation of Magdalena Oliver Gabarró by the LongeviQuest, a pattern of cases of exceptional longevity in the wider region of Catalonia and Mediterranean France becomes even more pronounced. Based on history/culture, we could perhaps also call this region "the Occitano-Catalan Area".

It is interesting that all 3 115+ cases in Spain come from Catalonia;

1) Maria Branyas Morera 117 years, 168 days (8th-oldest ever)
2) Ana Vela-Rubio 116 years, 47 days (29th-oldest ever)
3) Magdalena Oliver Gabarró 115 years, 182 days (48th-oldest ever)

Ana Vela-Rubio was born in Cordoba, but moved to Catalonia in 1950 at around ~49 years old.
Maria Branyas was also born in the USA, but she was the child of Catalan immigrants who had gone to the USA a year earlier and returned to Catalonia with her shortly, in 1915, that is, when Maria was only ~8 years old.

Despite making up only 16% of Spain's total population (8 millions out of 50 millions), Catalonia has all three of the country's historic 115+ supercentenarian cases

Just as an extra; Joan Riudavets Moll (114 years, 81 days) is the oldest man in Europe ever and was the oldest living man in the world when he died in 2004. He lived on the island of Menorca, which is culturally, linguistically, and historically, tied to Catalonia and geographically very close.

We also have the case of Jeanne Bot, who lived practically her entire life in French Catalonia (or Northern Catalonia), on the border with Spain.

So let's take a look at the 3 oldest French women (who are also the only 116+ cases in France);

1) Jeanne Calment 122 years, 164 days (1st-oldest ever)
2) Lucile Randon 118 years, 340 days (4th-oldest ever)
3) Jeanne Bot 116 years, 128 days (23rd-oldest ever)

Jeanne Calment and Lucile Randon were born in Arles and Alès‎‎ , which are only ~70 kilometers apart and are located near the Mediterranean Sea, while culturally and historically they are located in Occitanie (Alès‎‎ is located in the namesake administrative region too), which is adjacent to Catalonia. Calment lived her entire life in her hometown of Arles. Lucile Randon moved around France quite a bit during her life, but as a centenarian she retired to nearby Toulon, located on the Mediterranean coast.

Occitania (population of 6 millions) and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (population of 5 millions) as administrative regions have the only 3 116+ cases in a France of 69 millions. If we limit our interest only to the historical/cultural region of Occitania, the population is even smaller.

These observations about how many extremely long-lived outliers Catalonia and Occitania/Mediterranean France have produced are even more striking when you consider that France and Spain as a whole are two of the top countries internationally in life expectancy. So I would say that if there would be any confirmed "blue zones", this region is definitely a strong candidate.

Minimum Age (in Days) for a Supercentenarian?

Apologies if a thread similar to this one already exists - mods should feel free to merge this thread with an older one.

I was wondering what we - or the scientific community - considers the minimum age for a supercentenarian.

I fully realise that's 110 years and 0 days in the y-d format, but we could also be looking at age in days lived. There are some oddities there:

- the two youngest validated SCs on the list both reached 40,176 days (Alice Keller and Jeanne Rochet), because they did not experience a leap day in 1900.

- there are people who died at 109y 364d or 109y 365 days who also reached 40,176 days (or even 40,177), but who do not appear on the list because they died before their 110th birthday.

- but hypothetically speaking, if Margaret Ann Neve had died on her 110th birthday (18 May 1902), she would have died at the age of 40,175 days, because both 1800 and 1900 were a year without a leap day.

So what should we consider the minimum threshold for supercentenarian status? It feels unfair to some people who lived to or past the age of 40,175 days but who died before their 110th birthday not to be included when others did have the fortune of living in the "right" circumstances.

I learned that bed bugs are on the rise all over the world, especially in France, after the pandemic ended and people began to move more and more.

These insects are also found in Japan and scared and stressed many people because of the difficulty of getting rid of them. I worried about, if bed bugs increase further, they will attack SC and/or its helpers and will affect the lifespan of humanity.

Researching Updates

As you all have seen, I have been kind of quiet about posting my research on here, as I have learned that not every thing needs a post. I mainly use the forum for other uses, but this deserves a post.

An unvalidated supercentenarian man, who I have spoken about here on this forum, had the issue of a possible identity switch with his nephew. Well, that changes today! I was able to track down this nephew of his, and prove once and for all that they are two different men! I have located all the necessary documents for this nephew of his, to prove he is a different person.

There are no other people in this man's family that are a potential candidate for an identity switch. I have done research on his siblings and family, and there's no one else he could've gotten mixed up with. I'm not saying his case is completely true, but now I am 100% sure that he is not a case of identity theft/switch.

I am not going to reveal which case I'm talking about for privacy reasons, but this changes the entire course of his case.

Hello everyone I would to share a math formula that I came up with.

NOTE: I AM NOT SAYING MY MATH IS CORRECT, IT VERY WELL COULD BE WRONG. My goal is to try and help come up with ways to prove and disprove things with science and math. Even if it is wrong, it might spark someone who is good at this kind of stuff to use my idea and come up with a correct formula.

Here's what I came up with:

Men who made it to 114: Years born, 1870, 1882, 1889, 1889, 1891, 1896, 1897, 1905, +4 years (One born every 4.875 years)

Men who made it to 115: Years born, 1882, 1891, 1897 +11 years (One born every 8.6 years)

Men who made it to 116: Years born, 1897 +10 years (One born every 10 years)

After figuring out the average, we should see a 117 year old man born every 32-ish years. Assuming Beard is true, 1870 + 32 = 1902, so the statistics make it out to be that we are due to see a 117 year old man!

1905 + 4.875 = late 1909

1897 + 8.6 = mid 1905

1897 + 10 = early 1907

1870 + 32 = early 1902

So my math comes out that it is likely we will see a 117 year old man born between January 1, 1902 and late 1909. It seems that Mr. Mora should be next in line to the male longevity throne.

Odd Experiences

About 2 hours ago I was having a very difficult time breathing, to the point where it felt like my lungs were going to burst. All of a sudden I had a vision of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora telling me everything was going to be okay.

Strangely, sometimes when I am feeling ill, I will see visions of supercentenarians, and every time I see them, I began to feel much better. About half the time, I am "visited" by a random SC, but the other half of the time I am "visited" by Mr. Mora.

This is not fake, this is not made up. But this something I wanted to share.

My guess is, thoughts on SCs are associated with positive feelings for me. And these positive feelings lead to a quicker recovery when I am ill.

Why Mr. Mora is the one I see the most frequently, I have no idea, but I am very comforted during these visions. I feel there is some kind of strange "spiritual" connection between me and Mr. Mora. It's very odd, but every time I see a picture of him, I have some bizarre feeling of nostalgia. It's almost as if he is a distant family member whom I never knew I was related to, but sense it through a weird emotional connection.

It's like I can sense there is an alternate reality out there somewhere, where I am part of the Mora family. And I can see myself being a relative of his.

I don't know where these feeling come from, but I thought this would be the perfect place to share them.
