Don Guido Avi - of Vigalzano, Pergine Valsugana, Trento, Italy - celebrated 107 years of life.

He was born on 14 February 1918, feast day of Saint Valentine. The catholic priest is going to celebrate, God willing, next month on 21 March, the 83rd day of his ordination. Another record for the oldest priest in Trentino.

"It seems like yesterday. These years - Don Avi said last year - have passed in a flash. My life has been just like that: a flash of activity and many beautiful things. I live on memories and gratitude."

At some point in his life, he emigrated from Belgium to the department of Caracas, Venezuela where he lived for the rest of his life. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living man in Venezuela.

However, she is not the oldest person living in Ireland overall, as Phyllis Furness is older but was born in the UK. She was born on 31 December 1915 in county Donegal, and lives in the same place today.

Gerardina Sequeira Flores was born in Managua, Nicaragua on 26 May 1914. In her mid 40s, she moved to Costa Rica, and has lived there ever since. She currently resides in Los Chiles, Alajuela, with her daughter. She is currently the oldest documented Nicaraguan-born Costa Rican, which is a demographic that makes up around 10-15% of the country's population.

She claims to be born on 23 April 1913, but her birth record shows that she's actually 13 months younger (she even had an older brother born in March 1913, making her claimed DOB impossible). Hopefully we'll get confirmation of her 109th birthday next month.

Antonio Nieto was born in Macotera, Salamanca, Spain on 16 February 1890. He emigrated to the United States as a young adult, and worked in the Panama Canal Zone in the 1910s. He married a woman named Antonia, and appears to have lived most of his life in Hayward, Alameda, California. He passed away from pneumonia on 5 January 2000, sadly missing his 110th birthday by only 1 month.
