Greetings,
Herb Douglas, who won the bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in the long jump (the event I've been competing in for years), celebrates his 100th birthday today. He was born on 9 March 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, and currently resides in Philadelphia.
His wife is due to turn 99 next month. Herb is also the third-oldest living Olympic medalist behind gymnast Ágnes Keleti (b. 9 January 1921) of Hungary and equestrian Wilhelm Büsing (b. 2 March 1921) of Germany.
Happy birthday to Mr. Douglas!
