Snöfrid Öfverström was the oldest person in the Åland Islands since 14 June 2021 (3 yrs, 186 days), the longest time in the position since Anna Hagman who was between 2 Nov 1997 and 18 Apr 2006 (8 years, 167 days), Snöfrid died at 104 years, 187 days, the oldest since Helen Hammarberg who died at 104 years, 272 days on 21 Aug 2020
She is the 9th person from Mariehamn to be the oldest in the country, the first since Elena Jansson (died on 25 Jan 2021), only one person after her was the oldest in the country before Snöfrid

Runar Blomsterlund (b. 8 May 1922) is now the oldest living person in Åland. The oldest living woman in Åland is Ulla Wikström (b. 10 Oct 1923).

Good to see this small population is producing a few centenarians.

I'd be curious to know what you found! From my experience the rates of centenarians in Shetland have broadly aligned with Scotland at large.

@robbie Not sure about rates, but I collected a list of almost 80 centenarians (plus another 80 nonagerians). OLP there is almost always over 100 years old since the 1980s (there are two brief instances of younger doyennes, but this is probably the result of incomplete data). 7 cases over 105. I foolishly never used Scotlands People, which I was aware of but somehow never thought of, at the time.
