Ruth Moselle Apilado (née Mays; 1908 — 2021 AD; †113:107) was an American newspaper editor, novelist and founder of America's Intercultural Magazine (AIM). Born during the Jim Crow era, she was an African American anti-racism activist for civil and political rights.
She is a candidate for the oldest person ever that was famous for reasons other than her (ultimate) longevity. (Mathematician Leopold Vietoris (†110:309), publishing papers up to age 103, is a candidate for the oldest man with that property.)
Leila Denmark (1898-2012) and Alphaeus Philemon Cole (1876-1988) are older than both people you mentioned.
