Kiyo Komatsu was born on 27 January 1911. She has been the oldest living person in Saitama Prefecture since the death of Hisako Shiroishi last month. She is also the second-oldest person ever to live in the prefecture after Shiroishi. She is among the twenty oldest people in the world

"Now, at 113, she still lives at home with her family without the need for nursing care. Remarkably, she continues to climb the stairs to the second-floor bathroom. She eats three meals a day with her family, personally holding and using her own bowl and chopsticks, maintaining a high degree of independence in her daily life."

27 January 2025 – Yumi Yamamoto, President of LongeviQuest Japan, visited Asaka City in Saitama Prefecture to celebrate the 114th birthday of Kiyo Komatsu-san (小松きよ), the oldest resident in the region. Komatsu-san and her family warmly welcomed Yamamoto, who spent over an hour chatting with her while enjoying coffee in Komatsu’s cozy room.
