Piedad Loriente Perez was born in Agüero, Aragon, Spain, on 11 September 1911.
She married railwayman Lorenzo Allué Rubiela and had a daughter, Ángeles Allué Loriente, who was 79 at the time of her mother’s 110th birthday.
When she was widowed aged 61, Loriente Pérez moved in with her daughter and son-in-law. Aged 99, she moved into a care home in Zaragoza, Aragon. Since she was 103, she has suffered from dementia, but was reported to still be in good health, full of cheer and positivity.
On 19 August 2024, following the death of 117-year-old Maria Branyas Morera, the world’s oldest person, Loriente Pérez became Spain’s second-oldest resident after Silveria Martín Díaz, 114. On 11 September 2024, her 113th birthday, she became the oldest living person in Spain, following Martín Díaz’s passing. She is also the last known surviving person in Spain who was born in 1911.
As of November 14, 2024, she lives in Zaragoza, Aragon, Spain.
