Found an obituary of Edith Foster:

The Tuscaloosa News, November 10, 1995: https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=XUmZziu-z7kC&dat=19951110&printsec=frontpage&hl=en

Another article on Julia Savage (with the grainiest photo I've ever seen - I can't even see her at all)

The Wheeling Intelligencer, March 31, 1973: http://ohiocountywv.advantage-preservation.com/viewer/?k=julia%20savage&i=f&m=between&ord=k1&fn=the_intelligencer_usa_west_virginia_wheeling_19720330_english_12&df=1&dt=10

Thanks to some unorthodox sleuthing, I discovered the listing of Percie Ryan in the obituary index for Foster's Daily Democrat. It's on page 16 of the May 6, 1991 issue. If someone is so inclined they could order the issue itself - it's not scanned online.

Well, I figured why I couldn't find Elizabeth Johnson in the Oregon Death Index: she probably didn't die in Oregon. The obituary of her son Charles in 1979 lists her as a resident of Bellflower, California, as does the obituary of her daughter Elizabeth in 1984. USPR indicates that her third and youngest child, Philip K. Johnson, lived in Bellflower for a while. Perhaps Elizabeth was living with him in her final years? I couldn't find any index of an obituary from the Long Beach Press-Telegram. Anyone else wanna give it a shot?

@sailor-haumea The GRG has Elizabeth Johnson's state of death as California. Not sure why you've been searching for an Oregon Death Index. 😉

Maybe you're confused with Helen Johnson (GER-USA, 1896-2007), who did die in Oregon???

Overduidelijk misschien.

I was looking based on the SSDI stating her last place of residence as Oregon. How embarrassing for me.

The San Diego Evening Tribune's August 20, 1985 edition contains an obituary for Pearl Wolcott. Because I don't have a subscription, I can only access a preview covering part of the obituary, but here's the preview:

There are a bunch of articles that mention Mabelle Bauman in the Atkinson Graphic on Newspapers.com. They're all from well before her centenarian years, like the 1910s to 1960s, though, so they're more just a window into her early and middle life. Still, you might be interested in them, Jimmy and Marco.

Not American, but I noticed that Jimmy's table of Canadian supercentenarians doesn't have a gallery for Mary Ann Essery (1875-1985).

Here's an article on Mary Ann Essery's 109th birthday, with a photo: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/508781615/

Thanks, Sailor. There's also articles for Ada Essery from 1971 and 1975, as well as an obituary from 1986.

Overduidelijk misschien.

Margaret Matthews' 100th birthday was covered in the Birmingham Post-Herald of 14 December 1987. This also gives us two pictures of her, which I don't believe we had.

Overduidelijk misschien.

Actually, this article in the February 12, 2006 edition of Newsday mentions Hannah Fennary and has a photo of her at 106: https://www.newspapers.com/newsoage/710166783/

Found some. Out of curiosity, why did the Chicago Tribune spell her name "Guilia" Mordini? Is that actually how she spelled it as an adult?

I suppose it's just a typo by the newspaper; I've seen it happen more often with Italian names.

I agree, a typo from the correct Giulia to the wrong Guilia....

@marco Newman claiming birth in 1892 is interesting because the 1895 Minnesota state census does support that birth year, even if her tombstone says 1894. And from the 1900 census onwards her listed ages support 1894 or later. Age deflation from a young age, then returning to her actual age later in life?

From the UK.

Ruby Gilliam - Sevenoaks Chronicle, 27 Sept 1990.

Yet another SC for whom a photograph has now been located.

Overduidelijk misschien.

Perhaps we need to dig deeper to see what her claimed birth year was as a living supercentenarian. I'll look into it. If she claimed 1892, then I'll revise her birth year to that in my files based on the 1895 census.

Yet another picture located for a supercentenarian.

Two more photos of Ethel Tuck, from the Lynn Advertiser (20 Aug 1985 and 19 Aug 1986)

I've got photos of quite a few other SCs from the UK which I'll post here also, though for some I don't have the sources on hand at the moment so I'll add them in later.

Thank you so much for these, Rob!

The source for Florence Deuchar is the Middlesex Chronicle of 25 Feb 1993. (The ESO already had that one.)

The picture of Helen Haward is part of a series shot on 22 Nov 1992 on the occasion of her 108th birthday; the ESO has more pictures from that shoot.

The source for Rose Hart is the Sandwell Evening Mail of 19 Mar 1986. That same newspaper also has articles (including pictures) for her 109th (20 Mar 1987) and 110th (17 Mar 1988) birthdays.

Overduidelijk misschien.

This might be a brief mention, with a photo, of Ida Mae Jackson at "100" (actually 105):

https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/736653006/

Apparently there was also an article published in the California Voice, a black oriented Bay Area newspaper, on August 4, 1982 about her, which I don't have access to.
