@runner726 Betsy Baker wasn't the WOP for that long (14 Jan 1954 - 24 Oct 1955) with all the historical cases that have been discovered and thoroughly researched in the past decade. And there are several of them that were the WOP for two years or more.

Kane Tanaka drinking another beverage than Coca Cola almost surprises me...

@930310 Thanks for pointing this out.
I just say at least Betsy Baker, because I don't know for how long she was WOP and I don't have any knowledge about WOP's prior to her.

@runner726 I meant that there were WOPs after Mrs. Baker that also held the title for over two years, such as Narcissa Rickman (1855-1968), Eliza Underwood (1866-1981) and Easter Wiggins (1874-1990). This list contains the people believed to have been the WOP since 1897, based on what was known in 2018:

Kane Tanaka's reign as the WOP is the fifth longest since Margaret Ann Neve's ended in 1903. The others ahead of Mrs. Tanaka are:

  • Louisa Thiers (6 Mar 1921 - 17 Feb 1926, 4 years, 348 days)
  • Katherine Plunket (4 Dec 1928 - 14 Oct 1932, 3 years, 314 days)
  • Mary Kelly (28 Nov 1960 - 30 Dec 1964, 4 years, 32 days)
  • Jeanne Calment (7 Jul 1990 - 4 Aug 1997, 7 years, 28 days)

This list is still mostly accurate but it's missing Mary Riddle (December 30, 1839 - February 27, 1947) and Mary Lohnes (January 2, 1841 - April 3, 1949). There's also some proxy validated cases - Deborah Sillman (February 21, 1800 - December 28, 1908), Margaret Beatty (June 24, 1805 - October 23, 1911), and Mary Ann Potter (February 23, 1814 - November 8, 1921), all three of which can be considered not-quite-airtight but still fairly solidly researched based on the ages of members of their households in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 censuses. Henry Philander West (May 19, 1812 - September 6, 1919) also falls into this category, I believe? Age validation is less bulletproof this far back, obviously.
