She was born in the village of Monte Velho, in Coruche, district of Santarém and lives in the village of Montinhos dos Pegos, Coruche, district of Santarém, Portugal. She had 5 children, 2 boys and 3 girls.

She is the second oldest (known) person from the district of Santarém, after Maria de Jesus (1893-2009), the oldest person ever from Portugal.
