After Ms. Yoshida sadly passed away, the new oldest living person in Ibaraki is Ms. Ina Okazawa. She was born on March 10, 1910 and she lives in Toride, Ibaraki.

Ina Okazawa was born exactly a decade after the birth of Violet Brown. It is similer with Masa Matsumoto, who born exactly a decade after the birth of former WOP titleholder Emma Morano.

It is very good news for Japan that Ina Okazawa were confirmed as alive.

Sorry to ask questions, but is Ina Okazawa the lady who was previously categorised as the anonymous Japanese lady born somewhere between 5 January and 1 April 1910?

And it also appears IO is not fully validated yet?

Thank you.

Yes, she is. Her name and full date of birth were (apparently) published in a news report (only accessible to subscribed readers) after the death of her predecessor, Seki Yoshida.

As her DOB was published today, her age cannot have been validated yet - this process will take some time to be completed. But with a name and a full DOB known, I reckon the chances of her becoming validated have definitely grown.

Overduidelijk misschien.

With the death of Kikue Taira Miyoko Hiroyasu, born on 23 Jan 1911 in Nakatsu, Oita, where she still lives, would she be the new top ten?
If so, she would be the first person born in 1911 to appear on this list.

Japan can still provide four people born before 1910 and a top 10, all above 113.00.

Whilst Japan and the USA still provide far more 113+ residents than any other countries, Japan has comfortably been the more dominant of the two in recent times.
