Gladys Ingeborg Linstrum McDonald - of Waco, Texas, USA - passed away on 16 March 2022, at the age of 109.

She was born on 12 November 1912. Her parents were Swedish immigrants.

 

Obituary:

"Gladys Ingeborg Linstrum McDonald, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, after enjoying a full and vibrant life during her 109 years on earth.
Born on November 12, 1912, Gladys was the daughter of Swedish immigrants and the oldest of six children. Her father, Rev. Oscar E. Linstrum, came from a line of Methodist ministers and her mother, Lily Lundblad Linstrum, was a homemaker.
Gladys and her husband, Andrew John McDonald (A.J.), were happily married 67 years and had two children, Carolyn McDonald Anderson and Andrew Dan McDonald. Dan McDonald died in a plane crash in 1982.
Gladys was admired not only for her longevity, but for her servant heart and zest for life. She loved to entertain, garden, can vegetables, play bridge,do needlepoint, read, and work on crossword puzzles.
The impact she made on our lives will never be forgotten. The family wants to thank all the staff at Wesley Woods Health & Rehabilitation Center in Waco for their professional, loving, and compassionate care.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Oscar and Lilly Linstrum; husband A.J. McDonald; son, Andrew Dan McDonald; two younger sisters, Vivian Linstrum (Austin) and Gernelle Knuckle (Molton); three younger brothers, Oscar Linstrum, Jr. (Bakersfield), Charles Linstrum (Jacksonville, Florida), Dr. Tom Linstrum (McKinney); and oldest granddaughter, Leslie Anderson Horne.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Anderson (Austin); daughter-in-law, Candace Harrison and husband, Steve (Waco); five grandchildren: D.J. Anderson (Austin), Kelli Shinault and husband, Eric (Austin), Amanda McKinley and husband, Jim (Austin), Mike McDonald and wife, Lu (Murphy), Rhett Horne and wife, Shelley (China Spring); and six great grandchildren: Will and Analisle Horne (China Spring), Taylor Anderson (Austin), Harris Shinault (Austin), Marshall and Ellie McKinley (Austin), and Dan and Angela McDonald (Murphy); and niece Karen Linstrum (Houston).
Gladys and A.J. were longtime members of First United Methodist Church. Memorials may go to First United Methodist Church at 4901 Cobbs Drive, Waco, Texas, 76710."
