@marco One 'n', two 's'. Johansson simply means Johan's son (in this case daughter) and is one of many last names of that variety that were in use to refer to children until the early 1900s and then these last names just stuck with children born to differently named fathers still maintaining their father's (or mother's) last name.
Ugh, sloppy from my part... I was confused with Herman Smith Johannsen, whose name IS with two s-es. Thanks for being sharp!

My thoughts exactly. Great to see a SC from the Balkans being validated!

I did not expect Jovanovic to be 'under review' in the first place. This is great!
Still surprised Jovanovic became verified
His biography was already really strong to begin with (he was a university professor), so I wasn't surprised in the slightest when his baptismal record was found supporting his exact claimed age.

@marco So, but since it is from an area where the myth of longevity is very common, then someone who does not know is simply surprised, and indeed in the Balkans the myth of longevity is very common (ie increasing the number of years and the like). Out of a total of about 10 cases from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina combined, only two persons are Credible, with Jelisaveta Veljković and Jovan Jovanović. Other claims were exaggerated due to retirement or some other reason. (20% of the total number of claims).
I think the "next frontiers" of supercentenarian validation will be South Africa (there's three claimants I know of - Rosalie Wolpe, Anna von Niekirk, and Johanna Adonis - who have marriage records recording their age from their 20s but I couldn't find their birth or baptismal records in the cases of Niekirk and Adonis) and Russia (the problem is that all those Orthodox church books with baptismal records aren't online yet). Georgia probably also has some validatable claimants with baptismal records but like with Russia they're not online. There might also be some Georgian-American supercentenarian who emigrated to the US when they were like 14 that we don't know of.
New validated supercentenarian (24 Mar 2022):

@seto2001 Her case was a little tricky since her father for some strange reason went by a different last name in her christening record compared to the records for her siblings. Luckily the names, ages, places of residence and everything else was consistent.

Great job for Swedish supercentenarians' validations in the last weeks!
@wellabove110 I had been neglecting my duties as the ESO-correspondent for Sweden so I felt that I needed to catch up... I am thankful that we have such an ease of access to most documents that are older than 70 years.
