Are many people on the Forum following this at the moment?

Ive been lucky enough to get to a couple of games. We’ve seen some very high quality football, some stunning goals, but the shocks and surprises are probably the biggest issue.

Germany failed to qualify last night, along with Olympic champions Canada, Italy, Brazil, Argentina and some other big names.

The USA were within a whisker of going out when Portugal hit the post with just seconds to go in that group game.

Likewise “much smaller” footballing nations such as Nigeria, Morocco, Jamaica, South Africa and Colombia are in the last 16.

I've only followed Sweden. So far it's going great for us, but the US will be a very tough challenge.

As you may know J, Sweden have the world number 3 FIFA ranking.

But because the USA (World no 1) only just sneaked through second in their group, these 2 heavyweights now have to meet in the round of 16.

Germany (world number 2) are out.

So the winner of that clash may well be installed as the favourite by the bookies after that game. Your ladies have the momentum and the USA don’t at the moment. But either way, that game should be a classic.
