English translation of article published in May 2023 (where the above photo is from)

https://www.lamayenne.fr/page/andree-supercentenaire-rencontre-avec-la-doyenne-de-la-mayenne-et-vice-doyenne-de-france

Meeting a 112-year-old person is dizzying. Dizziness when you realize that Andrée Bertoletto, this little piece of woman standing in front of you, uttered her first cry on Sunday, January 1, 1911!

It was at the Chapelle-Anthenaise. And very quickly, we feel an irrepressible desire to immerse ourselves in a history book to have in mind, even awareness, to which past our Mayenne supercentenary catapults us. What does the 20th century chronicle tell us about the year 1911? Aviation takes off with the first exploits of Louis Blériot, Marie Curie receives the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work on radium and polonium, Norwegian Roald Amundsen is the first man to reach the South Pole, Jules Bonnot and his gang begin their criminal enterprise by using the speed of increasingly numerous cars to crash on the roads of France and Mayenne...

Retired since 1968

Back in 2023. With a supercentenary, references to time are disproportionate, sometimes funny. Thus, Andrée was 9 years old when the armistice, ending the First World War, was signed on November 11, 1918. She married on May 25, 1935 in Montsûrs, retired in 1968 when France was building barricades! She still receives a reversion pension from her husband, Alphonse, an Italian emigrant who died in 1978, and who was a masonry entrepreneur in Montsûrs. Andrée worked alongside him as secretary-accountant of the company.

She lived most of her life in a small village house, at 14 rue de la Libération in Montsûrs. "It was only water damage that forced her, at 105 years old, to join the Ehpad La douceur de vivre in Montsûrs. We were also reassured to know her safely in this establishment, "says Jean-François Bazin, one of the fourteen nephews and nieces who visits him regularly. The Bertoletto couple had no children. Pampered by the staff, Andrée is the mascot of the Ehpad and everyone is proud to rub shoulders with her on a daily basis. Today, his days take place most of the time in the armchair of his room. Reading, "she reads daily", assures her nephew, television, especially programs related to nature, are enough for her happiness. Suffering from deafness, communication has become difficult, but the sparkling and intrigued eye at the time of the photo shoot reveals an assertive presence: "She has her whole head and knows well why you came to meet her". Not long ago, Andrée got up alone to go wash: "Falls without gravity, but resulting in spectacular hematomas led to the installation of a slight restraint," says her nephew.

A life turned towards others

The question now burns the lips. Does she have a longevity secret? We're not going to give you the shot of the small glass of port, but that of chocolate, yes! "It's one of his cute sins like coffee after the meal and spoon cookies," notes Jean-François Bazin. But Andrée Bertoletto is above all a life without excess: "A bird's appetite, frugal and little meaty food, a glass of water every morning and a regular consumption of tea and coffee," summarizes her nephew. It is also a physical activity, not very intense but regular, throughout his life most often constituted by domestic activities such as cleaning or gardening: "During his youth, he sometimes traveled by bicycle, pedaling 50 to 60 km a day! ", says her nephew who says "she has rarely been sick". A lot of energy and benevolence: "My aunt had a life turned towards others with many volunteer activities to her credit, an existence filled with good humor despite the difficulties of life. She never complains and is optimistic. I don't know if all this has to do with any secret of longevity, but that's how she lives. A pious woman, Andrée sometimes wonders if, up there, the good God would not have forgotten her.

Supercentenary

This term refers to people aged 110 and over. With her 112 years and a spring, Andrée is Dean of Mayenne and the 2nd oldest woman in France. Incredible fact, she is not the dean of the region! Indeed, Marie-Rose Tessier born on May 21, 1910, Dean of France, lives in Les Sables d'Olonne. The two Ligurians therefore occupy the first two places in this national ranking! According to the forum hosted by a group of enthusiasts ( https://centenairesfrancais.forumactif.org/), a reference in the field, as of April 25, France had 31 supercentenaries (29 women and 2 men). In Mayenne, two other women are over 108 years old: Marie Deffay de Soulgésur-Ouette, born on September 18, 1913 and Marie-Louise Grimault d'Alexain, born on August 31, 1914.

Pierre Pineau likely, he died in June

Just realized I had posted the link to the article for her 112th birthday, I fixed that now, it says this article was posted on May 15th. It would have to be Pineau
