Thanks you for setting up this thread, dear @mrcatlord. Having energetic person like you is great for the fan community.

Happy belated 112th birthday, Mr. Gisaburo Sonobe! It is said that Italian living woman Ines Sommovigo is also shared the birthday with him.

What is really noteworthy about him as a Japanese is that, after anonymous man of Tokyo, who was said to be born in July or August 1912, entered to a limbo case in July 2023 (Source: https://www.city.shinagawa.tokyo.jp/con ... 02308c.xls) Sonobe became the last Japanese man who was born in Meiji era of Japan.

Born 3 Feburuary 1999. Founder of 5ch anonymous message board about longevity (1 January 2012) / Founder and chief administrator, the oldest people research forum in Japan founded in 1 January 2017. Link: 長寿者研究フォーラム (oldestpeopleforum.jp)

Happy birthday Mr Sonobe.

112 is still a very significant male achievement.

Beat wishes to the 3rd WOLM.

He's the 3rd oldest validated living man, but likely not the 3rd oldest in terms of documented cases.

Today 15 November 2023 marks a one year anniversary since he titled as Japan's oldest living man following the passing of Shigeru Nakamura.

I can not find any sources. Tateyama city where he lives is only publishes not so detailed monthly stastics https://www.city.tateyama.chiba.jp/jouhou/page100257.html unlike Nara city where Mikizo Ueda lived. So it is not possible to check whether he is alive or dead every month. Details about him rarely appear in Japanese news. He is a similer case as Masamitsu Yoshida (1904 - 2016) who is little known about him.
