Kiyotaka Mizuno was born in Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on 14 March 1914. He has lived through four eras: Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa.
In his youth, Mizuno served as a guard for the Emperor and was stationed at the Imperial Palace during the February 26 Incident in 1936, an attempted military coup in Tokyo led by young army officers seeking political reform. Later, during World War II, he was deployed to the continent, where he narrowly escaped death before returning to Iwata.
After the war, Mizuno became a farmer, producing crops such as taro and white onions, and continued his agricultural work until the age of 80.
Now 111 years old, Mr. Mizuno continues to live at home with his eldest son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild, requiring only minimal care.
On 23 November 2021, following the death of 107-year-old Kentaro Muramatsu of Yaizu City, he became the oldest living man in Shizuoka Prefecture.
On 21 August 2024, following the death of 110-year-old anonymous man of Tokyo pr., he became the oldest living man in Japan.
As of 23 April 2025, he lives in Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan as one of the 10 validated World's OLM.

At 111 years old, a man from Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is the oldest man in Japan, both male and female. He received a letter of appreciation and a bouquet of flowers from the city.
The secret to his longevity is "not worrying."
Iwata City Mayor Hiroaki Kusachi said:
As the oldest man in Japan and the oldest man in the prefecture, he is a role model for the citizens and a source of hope for everyone.
The oldest person in the prefecture is 111-year-old Kiyotaka Mizuno, a resident of Iwata City.
Mizuno was born in 1914, making him the oldest living man in Japan.
Approximately 90 years ago, during the February 26 Incident in 1936, Mizuno served as a guard guard at the Imperial Palace.
He also experienced the Pacific War and has been working in agriculture for approximately 50 years since the end of the war.
He still wakes up at 6:30 every morning and eats all three meals without leaving any leftovers, regardless of food preferences.

I just live naturally. I try not to overthink things so I don't get too worked up.
Although Mizuno has been blind due to cataracts for about three years, he has no serious illnesses and enjoys listening to live sumo broadcasts.
