Mrs. Rosa Reyes passed away on 11 January 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, at the reported age of 114.
She is claimed to have been born on 10 August 1911 in Caguas, Puerto Rico (US). She had 13 children with her late husband, Saturnino.
More details can be found in the obituary:
Rest in peace.
I've known about this case since July. Her full name is Rosa Reyes Gonzalez. She was actually born in 1917.
Ms. Pilar Vazquez was born on 19 February 1916 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, as one of fifteen children born to Pedro López and Encarnación Serrano. Thirteen of those children survived into adulthood.
In 1944, she left Puerto Rico for New York City and began a new life chapter marked by determination, hard work, and hope. In time, she married Tomás Vazquez, and together they raised three sons: Thomas, Wilfredo, and José. Pilar instilled in them the same values of unity, love, and perseverance that had guided her since childhood.
Once her children were in school, Pilar entered the workforce and contributed her talents to several factories across New York. She helped manufacture lamps, umbrellas, and toys. Her steady work supported her family and reflected her unwavering commitment to providing for those she loved.
She took great pleasure in puzzles, word searches, and Bingo —pursuits that kept her mind keen and her spirit buoyant.
When asked about the secret to her long life, Pilar said: “Take care of yourself. Make sure you stay healthy, walk every day, and do not smoke or drink.” When asked about an advice for the younger generations, she shared a message that reflected the heart of her life’s philosophy: “Make sure you love yourself and your family. Family comes first above all.”
At the time of her 110th birthday, she was the matriarch of a large family, comprising seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, with two additional great-great-grandchildren on the way.
She currently lives in Manhattan, New York, United States.

A. H. B. S. (9 April 1914) sadly passed away on September 2025. The exact date is still unknown. The oldest living Puerto Rican is an anonymous woman born on 28 February 1914, who is 112.

Puerto Rico is a self-governing Caribbean archipelago and island organized as an unincorporated territory of the United States. It has an estimated population of around 3.2 million people and a notable history of human longevity. One Puerto Rican man, Emiliano Mercado del Toro, is the third-oldest validated man ever; he died in 2007 at the age of 115 years and 156 days. More recently, in 2021, Emilio Flores Márquez held the title of the world’s oldest living man before passing away at age 113.
However, the identity of Puerto Rico’s current oldest resident has not been fully confirmed. LongeviQuest has uncovered new information and, following extensive research, has identified a possible candidate.
To begin, on 8 December 2024, 111-year-old Ana Luisa García passed away. She had been believed to be the island’s oldest living resident. After her death, the oldest known and documented resident became an anonymous woman born on 9 April 1914, who was 110 at the time and would have turned 112 yesterday. Unfortunately, LongeviQuest has since determined that this anonymous woman passed away in September 2025. Her exact date of death is yet to be confirmed.
Further investigation has revealed another documented supercentenarian. This woman, whose identity remains confidential for now, was born on 28 February 1914, making her the most likely successor to Ana Luisa García as Puerto Rico’s doyenne. While much of the documentation supporting her age has been located, formal validation is still in progress with the assistance of her family. As of 10 April, she is 112 years and 41 days old.
LongeviQuest will continue working on the validation process and hopes to make an announcement in the near future, sharing this lady’s life story if her family grants permission.

Ynés María de Jesús Garay, a resident of Cayey, Puerto Rico, is celebrating her 111th birthday today. Her birthday was first reported by the Facebook page Conociendo a Puerto Rico, which frequently features stories about Puerto Rico’s oldest citizens.
Ynés María de Jesús Garay was born in the Rincón neighborhood of Cayey, Puerto Rico, on 20 April 1915 to parents Eugenio De Jesús Cartagena and Juana Garay Tirado. At the age of 10, her family moved to the Pasto Viejo neighborhood, where she spent her adolescent years. She left school in the third grade, and began working in tobacco farming – then a booming industry in Puerto Rico – at the age of 13.
After her first marriage ended in divorce, she married Domingo Colón Ortiz in 1939. The couple would have 11 children together, and both earned a living working in a factory, where their job was to strip tobacco leaves. The family owned a farm, where they would grow crops such as sweet potato, avocado, and corn, and owned livestock which included cows, pigs, and goats. Her husband died in 1983, after 44 years of marriage.
At the moment, she is the second-oldest known living person in Puerto Rico, after the anonymous lady who turned 112 in February.
