Mine Kondō (born 1 September 1910) has been the oldest person in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, since Shizu Narita’s death on March 2nd 2023. She is presumably celebrating her 113th birthday as I post this message
On her 112th birthday in September 2022
In January 2023 at the age of 112
Aged 105, in 2015.
On her 110th birthday in 2020.

this report from yesterday (5th of September) lists the oldest person in Aichi Prefecture as an 112-year-old woman living in Toyota City (where Kondo lives). I would assume they had gotten the info for the oldest person a few days earlier, before she turned 113, and didn’t know she’d had her birthday since
In August 2023 aged 112, from her nursing home’s blog
They post around 25 times a month and each post has several photos, and given that I only had to scroll through half a month’s worth of posts to find another picture of her there are surely many more photos of her on here. Once she appears again in a new blog post that will be confirmation for sure that she reached her 113th birthday
Photos from most recent blog post. Obviously she is in good health if she is able to feed herself
Mine Kondō is now in the Japanese top ten, following the passing of Mrs. Tatsumi (and assuming Uema and the Ibaraki woman are both alive, if not she may have already been in the top ten)
at 113.5:

Mine Kondo has climbed up the ranks quite quickly, especially this past month
Now the top ten is no longer 114+. At least her birthday is very soon
@mrcatlord So long as the bad luck does not continue and no other supercentenarians die before her birthday, we should see another period of a 114+ top 10.

There are still six other people born in 1910 after her so hopefully we get to a dozen or more by the end of the year
Mrs. Kondo has gained the titles of 8th-oldest person, the oldest Japanese person born in 1910, and third oldest Japanese person following the sad deaths of Shiroishi and Kretschmann
Adorable new video

LongeviQuest is pleased to announce that Mrs. Mine Kondō (近藤ミネ), aged 114, has become the oldest living person in Japan following the passing of Mrs. Okagi Hayashi (林おかぎ) at the age of 115 on 26 April 2025.
Mrs. Kondō was born on 1 September 1910 in the village of Ikuma (伊熊; now part of Toyota City), Aichi Prefecture, as the fifth of seven siblings. At the age of 20, she married a farmer from Higashihagihira (東萩平町), and together they had nine children, six of whom—three sons and three daughters—survived into adulthood. She continued working in agriculture, raising silkworms, and making handmade paper while raising her children, and remained active in farming well into her 90s.
Remarkably, even after breaking her hip at age 101 and undergoing surgery for an intestinal obstruction at age 103, she made swift recoveries. After turning 101, she began attending a daycare center in Nagoya, and by age 112, she was participating in calligraphy activities twice a week. Her family describes her as a person with a bright, positive personality who never spoke ill of others or got caught up in minor worries.
Until the age of 114 years and one month, Mrs. Kondō lived at home with her second daughter and granddaughter before moving into a nursing home in Kota Town, Aichi Prefecture, near her youngest daughter’s home. She continued to enjoy frequent visits from her family and, on good days in early March 2025, she sang cheerfully. However, later that month, she was hospitalized due to aspiration pneumonia and remains hospitalized as of late April 2025.
LongeviQuest had the honor of visiting Mrs. Kondō on 5 August 2024 to celebrate her remarkable longevity. During the visit, we presented her with a bouquet of flowers and a commemorative plaque, and she warmly welcomed the visit.
