Happy 114th birthday, Juan Vicente Perez Mora!

There is now finally a validated living man age 114 after more than 10 years without any validated men reaching this age.

Today is a big day! Longevity fans all over the world will be excited.

114! wow! Absoluely remarkable and rare achievement. This is the first time that I am really excited about a certain milestone, not even kane tanaka for lucile randon got this much excitement from me personally.

It’s certainly the 27th of May now in Venezuela. 

So as is being said above, a wonderful day for especially male supercentenarians. It’s over 12 years since we’ve seen a male 114th birthday.

We must hope for some great pictures and updates.

Grand Vedette Juan Vincente Perez Mora has reached the age of 114 Ö!!!

That puts him, under the (strict) regulations of Gerontology.wikia, at #7 of the oldest men éver! (Although it's probably 9 or 10 (but Gustav Gerneth's case isn't strong). The top ten oldest men once again have a living one. Since... take a good look... if Figuereo's case doesn't, uh.. pend out, the first one since Jiroemon Kimura! He reached that on 2011-04-19, over twelve years ago! So, for the first time in 10 years, a man ≥114! 😍 

The gap between men and women hasn't been this small in a long time either. With Tanaka, at one point, there was a difference of 7 years, but now with the 'young' WOP Maria Branyas (116:084), that difference is only 2 years!

The only one who really came close, by the way, was the oldest Auschwitz survivor, Yisrael Kristal (†12017-08-11 @ 113:330).

A very happy birthday indeed, dear Juan!! It is wonderful to see that you seem to be so joyful! 😍  An example to us all!

On 25 May 2023, following the sad passing of Ms. Plummer, Mr. Pérez Mora became the 7th-oldest validated living person.

@ale76 No way, is he drinking scotch from the bottle there?? 🤣

Oh well, it's not a unicum. I'm sure we all remember the good old Mr. Overton. Quite probably in my top 3 favourite SCs of all time. 

Does anyone have an informed opinion on what he may be drinking?

@chrisr I think it's rum (typical from Venezuela). And I also read somewhere that he use to drink a glass of brandy every day 🤣

It might be Miche, a traditional drink from the Andean region of Venezuela. It's been brought up in a few articles written about him.

@mendocino You are probably right. I read that he drinks a type of brandy, and miche is a kind of it. But it could be rum too, as it's also typical from that area...

It looks rather like the scotch bottles we have over here which are about 42% alcohol. 

We’ll done to Juan if his body still enjoys and can process what may have an alcoholic content.

I've seen a few photos of him holding bottles, like these:

On the left, he's holding a bottle by the Scottish brand Chequers, so it's just Scotch whisky. 

The yellow bottle is Brandy de Jerez by a Spanish brand called Fabuloso.

The black bottle is Cacique, a Venezuelan brand of rum.

Coincidentally, I just came across another photo of him drinking from a bottle that I hadn't seen before. I assume it's from at least 5+ years ago. 

I edited this picture of Juan on his 114th birthday, so we can clearly see the candles on his cake. In the original picture, the candles are facing the opposite direction.

On 4 July 2023, following the sad passing of Ms. Makishi, Mr. Pérez Mora became the 6th-oldest validated living person.

And he also becomes the oldest validated living person from 1909, at this stage.

He had this record some months back but of course there were not many validated persons from 1909 at that stage.

He is only 4 days away from surpassing Joan-Riudavets I wonder how far he is going to make it.

On 16 August 2023, tying the final age (114 years, 81 days) of Mr. Riudavets (ESP), Mr. Pérez Mora becomes the all time 6th-oldest validated man.

And he has gone into outright 6th spot now.

Congratulations Juan Vicente Pérez Mora!

Although I have been thinking, if Horacio Celi Mendoza, Tomas Pinales Figuereo and Anisio Rodrigues are verified.

So Juan Vicente Pérez Mora would be the ninth longest-lived validated man in history.

Even so, 114 years and 86 days for a man is incredible! since jiroemon kimura there has been no man of that age (unless pinales are validated)

I hope that Juan Vicente Pérez Mora lives long enough to enter the top 100 of the oldest validated in history.

As of today the top 100 milestone is 114-208, which  is still some way off.

Some earlier milestone are.

A spot in the top 150. The entry point is occupied by Minnie Whicker and Carmen Jaramillo Lopez and is only four days off.

The mark of Yukichi Chugani on 1 December 23.

Then the mark of Walter Breuning on 17 December.

The top 100 would occur 3 days after that.
