The prefecture's oldest person, Hirano Akino of Hamanose, Mihama Town, turned 110 this month, and Mayor Yabuuchi Miwako presented her with flowers in celebration on the 17th.

Mayor Yabuuchi visited Plato, a nursing home in Tai where she is staying, to coincide with a birthday party. She presented the flowers and said, "I heard the oldest person in Japan is 114 years old. Stay healthy and keep up the great work as you aim to be the best in the country."

Hirano loves flowers, and smiled, "Thank you. Thanks to you, I'm doing well."

Happy 110th birthday Ms. Hirano!
