Karl Haidle aus Kernen110 Jahre! Im Remstal lebt der älteste Mann der Republik

• Mr. Haidle now sits in a wheelchair and a conversation with him is not possible. He is also on medication. 
• He was trained as a mechanic and took part in all Wehrmacht campaigns during the war, so he was very lucky to have survived. Jugoslavia took him as a prisoner of war in 1944 and he spent 4 years in a prison camp. He has unfortunately outlived both his wife and his daughter, who was born in 1956.
• The reason he doesn't speak much anymore isn't mental decline, but his decreasing hearing, which makes it almost impossible for him to understand unfamiliar voices.
