Ms. Shigeko Kagawa of Yamatokōriyama, Nara Prefecture, Japan, turned 114 y.o.

She was born on 28 May 1911 in Japan.

Yamatokoriyama City released its population statistics as of 31 May 2025: there are two women over 110 years old living in the city. This means Ms. Shigeko Kagawa celebrated her 114th birthday and a 110-year-old woman born in February 1915 is still alive.

Happy belated 114th birthday Ms. Kagawa!

Celebration of longevity
Hello everyone! It's been hot and humid every day, but how are you doing?
Well, at Kojuen we celebrate birthdays every month.
The other day, Shigeko Kagawa, the oldest user of our facility, celebrated her birthday.
Congratulations again!
She is now 114 years old, making her the second oldest living person in Japan according to research (as of the end of June).
When I told her about this, she said, "Well, I guess I have to be number one."
What powerful words!
She also told us many other stories that we had never experienced, such as when Kagawa was a student and was walking to school in her geta sandals in the winter, and snow got stuck in her sandals (it snowed that much even in Koriyama!), and about riding in a rickshaw (rickshaws at the time were used as a means of transportation, not for sightseeing).
Such was Ms. Kagawa.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of our users who have had various experiences.
I am grateful to be able to help support their lives through rehabilitation.
We hope to continue to gain experience and grow!
