When the young commander of the guard declared his love for her, she rejected him simply because his frivolity startled her. "See how simple he is," she told Amaranta. "He says that he’s dying because of me, as if I were a bad case of colic."

Sister Rosario Soto, a resident of Santander, Cantabria, Spain, is celebrating her 112th birthday today, according to El Diario Montañés and OkDiario.
Rosario Soto was born in Gijón, Asturias, Spain, on 3 March 1914. At the age of 26, she discovered her religious vocation.
She lived between Oviedo and Bilbao and completed her postulancy and novitiate in Loyola and Azpeitia. She was eventually assigned to Oviedo, where she lived between González del Valle and another house on the outskirts of the city, training to become a teacher. During the Spanish Civil War, she was transferred elsewhere, but upon returning to Oviedo, she devoted herself to teaching children. At nearly 60 years of age, she left the classroom and began working as a receptionist.
She is currently the second-oldest living nun in the world (after Francis Piscatella of the United States), and the second-oldest living person in Spain (after Teresa Fernandez Casado).

Congratulations and happy 112th birthday to Sister Rosario.

It's interesting that out of her 5 siblings, her two brothers were priests and two sisters were nuns. The non-religious sister never married and was very linked to her church. Three of her siblings died at less than 30.
