Klara Zalczer (formerly Gerő, née Wiesner) – of Paris, Île-de-France, France – sadly passed away on 8 January 2026, at the age of 108 years and 76 days. She was born on 24 October 1917, in Sajószentpéter, Austria-Hungary.
She was one of the oldest living Holocaust survivors in the world, having survived the Auschwitz concentration camp. Both of her parents died there in 1944.
She was also one of the oldest living people born in present-day Hungary, as well as the oldest known Hungarian-born person ever to die in France.
