I’m very sad to announce that the 9th-oldest validated living person in the world, Mrs. Pearl Louise Berg (née Synenberg) - of Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California, United States - sadly passed away on 1 February 2024, aged 114 years, 123 days. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, on 1 October 1909. May she rest in peace. I am very glad to have gotten to FaceTime her in 2021.
Source: Confirmed to me privately by her son Robert. Yesterday, he emailed me saying that she was “fading fast” and that “we must be prepared for her passing.”
“Charles,
My dear Mom passed away this morning.
Would you help by notifying GRG, etc.
Many thanks,
Robert”

Very sad news, but what an extraordinary life. My condolences to all who knew her. What a privilege for you Charles to have been able to know her personally.
Rest in peace Pearl Berg.
Sad news, although we already knew her condition, her death still took us by surprise.
Kane Tanaka (1903-2022) my favorite supercentenarian of all time.
Rest in peace, Pearl Berg.

Although her passing had been expected given the recent news, the combination of her and the doyennes of Canada and Australia have been a massive blow to the SC community. I couldn't believe my eyes seeing the three of their death reports together.
Pearl seemed like a very lovely lady. May she Rest in Peace
