Adolfo Camacho Ripoll, Colombia’s Oldest Man, Dies at 110

Adolfo Camacho Ripoll, the oldest known living man in Colombia, passed away in Cartagena on 23 December, at the age of 110 years, 254 days, according to Cartagena En Linea.

Adolfo Camacho Ripoll was born in Santa Catalina, Bolívar Department, Colombia, on 13 April 1915, and the eldest son of Isaac Camacho and Aminta Ripoll. He learned the discipline of hard work at an early age. A farmer at heart, he later became a teacher, a politician, and a public servant, and ultimately worked as a warehouse employee, a position from which he retired.

He had fourteen children with three wives, eleven of whom survived him. He was the founder of the Los Caracoles neighborhood and was remembered as a good-natured man—a champion domino player, a passionate fan of baseball and boxing, and a devout follower of the Virgin of Santa Catalina.

Besides his children and their descendants, he was also survived by his brothers, Evelio, 90, and Ernesto, 106.

He is the 8th oldest man in Colombian history; his successor, Carlos Julio Rincon Garzon, was the 9th when he died just one day later.
He is the 34th oldest person in Colombian history; his successor was the 52nd when he died.
He was the 2nd oldest living person in Colombia.
He is the 272nd oldest person in South American history.
He was the oldest man in Colombia since October 10, 2025 (74 days), the shortest time until then; before him, it was Alfonso Maria Rojas Perdomo, who was the oldest man from January 11, 2024, to June 29, 2024 (170 days).
He was the youngest to die as the oldest man in Colombia since Ricardo Marriaga, who died on October 3, 2015, at 108 years, 225 days.
And he was the first man from Bolivar to be considered the oldest in the country.
