Lorenzo Torres Chávez, Mexico’s Oldest Man, Dies at 110

Lorenzo Torres Chávez, the oldest living man in Mexico, passed away today in Zapopan, Jalisco, at the age of 110 years, 74 days.

Lorenzo Torres Chávez was born in Huejotitán, Jocotepec, Jalisco, México on 3 August 1915. In 1942, he married María Guadalupe Castillo Sosa, and together they had 12 children.

Throughout his life, his physical activity and unwavering faith in God contributed to his good health. He barely consumed alcohol and maintained a simple, unrestricted diet. His sister María Torres Chávez (born 12 August 1919) was still alive as of July 2025.

Following the death of 111-year-old Hilario Orozco Lemus on 5 August 2025, he became the oldest known living man in Mexico.
