Suor Gabriella - Velia Antonelli of Rome, Lazio Region, Italy, sadly passed away on 14 December 2025, aged 110.

She was born in Ferentillo, Terni, Umbria Region, Italy on 25th April 1915.

She was the 15th OLP in Italy and the OLP in Lazio Region.

(confirmed few minutes ago thanks to our personal chat with the convent where she lived)

Velia Antonelli, Italy’s Oldest Nun, Dies at 110

Velia Antonelli, also known as Sister (Suor) Gabriella, passed away in Rome on 14 December, at the age of 110 years, 233 days, according to Supercentenari d’Italia.

Velia Antonelli was born in Ferentillo, Umbria, Italy, on 25 April 1915.

On 17 July 2024, following the passing of Anna La Morgia, she became the oldest known living nun in Italy. At the time of her passing, she was the second-oldest known living nun in Europe, after Rosario Soto (Spain).

She was the oldest living person in Lazio since October 30, 2025, when Genoveffa Dante passed away.
She held that position for 45 days, the shortest time since Leontina Ruberto, who held it for 33 days, between September 13, 2024, and October 16, 2024.
She died at 110 years, 233 days, the oldest person in the position of Dean of Lazio since Leontina Ruberto, who died at 110 years, 270 days.
She is the 10th person from Rome to be considered the oldest in Lazio, the first since Francesca Fanizza, who died on December 12, 2024.
The current oldest person in Lazio is Lucia D'Amico, born on January 7, 1916, living in Rome.
She is the 35th oldest ecclesiastical person in history.
She died at the same age as:
