Niigata Prefecture has just announced that Ms. Chiyono Eguchi (江口チヨノ) of Agano City, who was oldest person in the Prefecture, sadly passed away on April 6, 2026, at the age of 111 years, 329 days.
Ms. Eguchi was born on May 12, 1914. On September 3, 2025 following the death of 111-years-old Ms. Toyo Kondō of Sanjō City she became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.
Following Ms. Eguchi's death, 110-years-old Ms. Setsuko Sakata (坂田節子) (b. 1915.12.23) of Tōkamachi City, has become the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.
